In 2005, usiing funds raised from several very successful "Art In Bloom" events, the club endowed a $25,000 scholarship at the University of Maine in Orono. It is for juniors or seniors pursuing a career in horticulture, forestry, agronomy, entomology, environmental sciences or a closely related field.

The Brooklin Garden Club is pleased to announce that Maddy Jones of Lamoine has been awarded its annual scholarship for University of Maine students interested in horticulture. Based on her online course work during the past two years (because of the pandemic) and her serious interest in gardening evidenced by her Seal Point Farm, UMO has awarded her a stipend for the coming year.  She looks forward to attending the University in person this fall.

Since she was sixteen, Maddy has worked at Salt Farm Flowers on the Bayside Road outside Ellsworth, where she has learned about business or floral farming from Master Gardener Mary Turner. This year, with  construction help from her father, Brett, Jones, Maddy planted a dozen raised beds of flowers and geeens for Bouquets, whcih she supplied to Flexit Cafe on Main Street in Ellsworth and for events via her Facebook page or email to
